Customers love the statistics that we offer and also love our ‘proof of distribution report’ that we send out with sampling links to partnering sites of where their story may be found. This is only part of what goes on behind the scenes the morning their press release is distributed. Once distributed, we keep track of everything from headline impressions and number of times a story has been read. We wanted to share a story from a recent customer in Asheville, North Carolina.
I was working away when our customer service line began to ring. Slightly distracted, I answered the call. It was a customer who had recently used our press distribution service inquiring about his statistics. His name is Rob and he had recently published a book titled “Fearless Medicine, Helping Children and Adults Overcome Fear in a Medical Setting”.
Stepping back a few days prior to his release being distributed, he had inquired about what my thoughts were about his release and the subject matter, etc. My personal thought was ‘wow, I think he is on to something here’ (his press release title of “How to Hold a Two Inch Needle and Still Make a Child Smile”). This may have been in part because of my own personal fear of needles.
Rob called to inquire if the statistics he had looked at were considered decent results. You can imagine my shock when he had advised me that his press release had made over 90,000 headline impressions on various partnering sites, and over 900+ actual views of his press release! I believed it was a decent subject, but did not think it would receive that type of viewership!
Rob did an excellent job on this press release by keeping it short and to the point and by also including some points in bold. His press release may be found HERE.
I never did get the chance to ask him if he had also shared the link to his press release on his social media sites, but would imagine that he might have given his social media stats also appeared decent.
Sharing a press release through your social media channels (Facebook, Google+, Twitter and LinkedIn) while asking questions in the process is an excellent way to engage your followers, customers and target audience. This is really a process that completes the process.
