When did you Last Distribute a Press Release; and did you Share Your Information on Social Media? Quick tip…

Keeping your content interesting.Your social media can assist you with your content marketing strategy and visibility if you tie all the pieces together properly. Yes, this includes your actual press release too.  This is a strategy we have discussed previously which can be found in our Knowledge Base here .  You should be posting to your social media the day your press release is distributed from the 24-7 Press Release Newswire.

If the information you are sending out is useful and considered valuable to your audience, you may notice an increase in your followers.

Unfortunately, as of recent months (from the end of 2015), we have started to notice a trend in ‘less than satisfactory’ social media posts, which could potentially means less followers.

Allow me explain. When people visit or stumble across your Facebook page, if you have information that is of value to them, they will keep coming back. They may follow you.  They may share your information (part of how posts go viral).  These types of social posts may include press releases announcing a new product, or an upgrade, tips and techniques to help existing customers; or keeping them up to date on an industry, such as finance.  We talked a little about this in our article titled “When Disseminating a Press Release, Quoting an industry Expert Who Can Vouch for You Can Further Validate Your Brand and Earn Trust in Your Marketplace”.

Where we have started to see things go south in the quality of posts is with the “Look at us!” style postings.  You are probably familiar with these.  They are the Facebook posts displaying images of office party socialization’s, birthdays, Friday afternoon hangouts with the selfies.  Not to say the occasional post like this wouldn’t be appreciated particularly if it is a ‘personal Facebook page’, however for a business page, it is not that interesting for your customers.Office party

You need to put yourself in the seat of your customer.  When you visit a company’s social media page, would you rather see updates to a product you have purchased and how that product may be used; or ‘the Friday afternoon office hangout selfie’?

Here is another way to think of it.  Let’s think big Corporation.  How often do you see the party type pics on an Apple Facebook page? I would say very rarely.

The point we want to make is ensure you incorporate your press release within your social media and content marketing strategy. When you distribute your news with 24-7 Press Release Newswire we provide you with a link to your news story. Use this link to further your reach and share on your social media; particularly if this press release will be useful to your existing or potential customer base. As far as frequency goes, a good rule of thumb is three to four times a month.  With this being said, we only recommend disseminating news when you have a story to tell that will be of interest to your audience.  Don’t force something that isn’t natural.

Keeping these ideas in mind will be a sure way to help with your overall content marketing strategy and put you above those that are not practicing these strategies or not posting at all.

Future Marketing Trends to Watch Out For in 2015

Is use of a press release still good for marketing?24-7 Press Release Newswire, a leading provider of press release distribution services online constantly pays attention to marketing trends, trends which may even be a few months out. During a research, we came across some future marketing trends for 2015 that we wanted to share as we felt they were valuable.  Check them out here.

Looking ahead – especially seeing as the New Year is rapidly approaching – it’s important for marketers, online marketers, PRs and marketing managers to look at the top predictions for marketing next year.

Some of the most interesting items, for us, to come out of the slideshow are:

In the USA, 25% of web users are mobile-only, never using a laptop or PC. – This is an incredible statistic, particularly if you are an online only retailer.  If you are not mobile ready by now, your competition is and is also far ahead of you!

Email marketing is going to remain an important part of the marketing mix. – Our take is that as long as people have email, these campaigns will never go by the wayside.

The art of storytelling through effective PR campaigns will remain critical. – This is huge.  At 24-7 Press Release News, we have started to see a pickup in the press release distribution industry.  As marketers and SEO individuals begin to put Panda and Penguin aside when thinking of a press release, they begin to see and experience the true value of a press release when integrated into their social media plan.  This means sharing your press release, posting to assorted communities and of course your blog.  Long gone are the days of keyword linking.  Content is king.

We know the importance of using valuable content and superb visual images in online PR campaigns, to create a memorable experience for the reader. The statistics back this up, especially for images.

One of our favorite maxims in delivering effective online PR is ‘don’t monitor the News, become the News’ – and consistent provision of News through online press release distribution helps our clients to move towards this goal.

There’s some really useful visuals, statistics and eye opening content in the slideshow – take a closer look here.

Are You Integrating Press Release Distribution and Your Social Media Together? If Not, You Should Be! Here is Why…

PR For Your Business“Press release distribution has changed more in the last 5 years than in the previous 50 years” comments Michael Iwasaki, managing partner with 24-7 Press Release Newswire. “The last 18 months in particular have been extremely significant for the way online news is now handled, distributed and viewed.” continued Iwasaki.

Many of these changes have become more apparent because of how search engines now look at and handle content. If you distribute a press release that is of poor quality, it is now likely to be flagged as ‘thin content’.  This is fantastic because it has created a drop off of poor press release content where people were trying to spam the search engines with keyword links.

People are starting to understand that a well written press release distributed to credible news channels still has huge value. This is especially true when they integrate this with their social media.

At 24-7 Press Release Newswire, when a customer distributes a press release, we encourage them to share their press release link on their social media. We can clearly see the businesses that do this and the ones that do not. The number of social shares on one that has been posted to active social media accounts is significantly greater. This is also beneficial because by doing so, you are updating your own audience of followers and alike. You also never know what journalist or blogger may be looking at or following your social media channels.

So what should you walk away with after reading this? Press release distribution has changed from just sending out a press release and being passive, to sharing that link on all your social media channels (blog included) and engaging your audience to participate in comments. This will maximize your exposure not only through the company you used to distribute your news, but to your own direct audience.

The Best Social Media Tools to Boost Your Online PR Campaigns.

Social Media ToolsAt 24-7 Press Release Newswire, we’ve been enjoying the excellent social media marketing advice, articles, hints and tips at www.bufferchat.com recently – and observing the intrinsic link between effective online PR campaigns and well-delivered social media.

And to help you utilise the complex world of social media marketing in tandem with your online PR, this fantastic article contains 60 of the best social media tools for small businesses to gain competitive advantage online.

As well as listing some incredible tools and platforms to monitor the big social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, the article clearly highlights the best of the best when it comes to social media monitoring – an often overlooked part of the mix.

Our favourite platforms and tools in the social media monitoring space are:

* Mention – online tracking of your business name. It goes beyond Google Alerts for tracking your name or company name globally. You can find out hoe many people are mentioning your name or business name without using the @ sign, and the tracking tool has received excellent ratings.

* SocialMention – this tool helps track areas such as sentiment, reach, passion and strength. It focuses more on how people feel and react to your Brand and business content on social media platforms. This is powerful, as you can see how an online audience’s sentiment changes over time, and adjust your online PR accordingly.

* Keyhole – if you’re looking to track a hashtag campaign online, Keyhole delivers this across Twitter, Facebook AND Instagram. Excellent for tracking an upcoming event, measure the popularity of the campaign. Keyhole also enables tracking of an event before, during and after – providing a full dashboard of analytics, influencers and demographics.

For overall social media analytics, these are our favourite platforms to try:

Buzz Sumo – delivers the most popular content on set topic, or website. This provides powerful insight, which can drive future online PR campaigns.

Rival IQ – if you’ve ever wondered what a competitor is doing, Rival IQ can help, by tracking a Brand and monitoring their activity on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and more. Rival IQ provides insight into competitor campaigns.

Klout – this well-established tool collates information across the Web, and gives a Klout Score for an individual, Brand and website. Klout also tracks key topics, views content suggestions, and posts to social media profiles. Awesome!

The Link Between Online PR and Social Media Marketing – Proven!

Social Media PRAt 24-7 Press Release  Newswire, we’ve seen the increasing link between online PR and social media marketing in the last 12 months – and it’s getting more critical as 2014 races on.

As a well-established provider of online press release distribution and online PR services across the world, seeing the growing prominence of social media marketing – and how this affects the success of online PR campaigns, has become a highly important factor in achieving impact and reach online.

We came across an interesting article here from the excellent social media information network and blog at Bufferapp.com, which highlighted a few surprising statistics about social media marketing and the effect it has on gaining attention online:

* Your biggest advocates on social media also have the fewest Followers.

* According to the Mention website, 91% of mentions come from those with less than 500 Followers. Most of these are potential Brand advocates.

* Fewer than one in 10 of every mention will come from a ‘Power User’, or someone with a large number of Followers.

* There are six well-defined communication networks on Twitter – check out the visual here.

* Original, well-written content still outperforms visual content: however, visuals are a very important part of the marketing mix. Ideally, written content with visuals works best.

* Over half of marketers (58%) claim written content is their most important form of social media content. Only 19% of marketers voted visual content as the most successful pat of their online marketing campaigns.

* Brands have less than 60 minutes to respond to customers on Twitter to be effective – check out the visual here to find out why.

* Do re-tweeting late at night, ideally between 10-11pm: this is effective because share volumes are lower and the chance of gaining attention is higher.

* Facebook promotions work best on Fridays – a social intelligence report from Adobe demonstrated that when posted on Facebook on a Friday, content received more Likes, more Shares, and more Comments than any other day.

* The Top 3 social media sites for driving traffic are Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

* Visual content is increasingly important on Facebook, helping to drive 87% of all engagement on the platform.

All You Need To Know Regarding Social Media Behavior and Smartphone Usage – Do Men and Women Use Them Differently?

We have seen our spouses or partners using their smartphone on the couch, or looking at it before bed, but do we really know what they are looking at? Were you aware that women use social media and their smartphones differently from men?

If you are involved in marketing in any way, some of these numbers might assist you with how you target your market audience.

  1. Men are more likely to use social media for business-related reasons – 27% of men do this compared to just 22% of women.
  2. Men are nearly twice as active to use their phone for dating – 13% compared to just 7% of women.
  3. Women outnumber men in Facebook usage on their smartphones.

However, there are some areas in which women use smartphones more than men. The top three are:

  1. Staying in touch with family and friends
  2. Blogging, and photo uploading/sharing
  3. Entertainment

Fast Forward to 2014 – What’s The Value of a Press Release?

Social Media NewsAt 24-7 Press Release one of the questions we get regularly asked is What’s the value of a press release?

One of the best answers we’ve seen came recently from John Mueller, Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google, who advocated the value of a press release, but stressing the importance of not using money-based keyword links, and to ensure that businesses use a press release distribution service that supports NO FOLLOW.

In our extensive experience as a leading provider of press release distribution services, we believe that the value of a press release comes from three elements:

1. Journalists can find your story and re-write it and/or re-post your story.

2. Bloggers can find your story and share it with their audiences.

3. You can share your story via high-volume social media platforms.

These three elements all create valuable exposure levels, and a press release delivers massive impact in relation to the amount of investment it requires.

You can also promote your own press release once it goes live: the day your press release is distributed, a link will be created, and this means you can promote this link within your own online marketing campaigns, too.

Remember, that a press release stays online until you decide to remove it, so the average online press release has a significant lifespan.

If, however, you want to remove a press release from the Web, you’ll need to contact each publication source individually. This will take time and effort.

We believe that bang for buck, and compared to AdWords campaigns – which have limited space and character allowance – a press release is financially more cost-effective, as long as it’s written with a ‘hook & hold’ headline in place.

Fewer businesses are now using press release marketing for ‘spam’ messages, so the existing press releases being distributed are generally more newsworthy – and gaining more attention online than ever before.

What’s The Magic Bullet For Your Marketing?

The answer? There is no magic bullet. This reminded us of the classic scene in the cult movie The Matrix when Neo learns that to bend a spoon, he must acknowledge there is no spoon:

The Matrix

We were considering this question at 24-7 Press Release as many businesses are looking to find the ‘secret ingredient’ in their online marketing and press release distribution to instantly boost their marketing to stratospheric levels.

Unfortunately, the only ‘magic bullet’ to your marketing is consistent, planned, strategic hard work. Some of this hard work can include the following elements:Magic Marketing Bullet

A combination of marketing efforts which work in unison to make a marketing plan come together during the course of a commercial year in business.

Consistent utilization of press release distribution is recommended, because widespread online coverage from press release publication delivers instant gratification for your marketing efforts, and can spread rapidly through social media channels.

Acknowledge that there is no ‘magic bullet’ and doing only one activity in your online marketing then expecting significant results is an unrealistic goal.

As a minimum, we recommend that businesses should complete professional and consistent social media profiles, including a Facebook Business Page, Google+, Pinterest to display product images, LinkedIn, YouTube, as well as AdWords campaigns, press release marketing, and a well-written Blog.

Press release distribution can tie together product and service marketing in one consistent effort.

All marketing activities are constantly changing and evolving, so be ready to adapt, change and introduce new channels for your products and services.

Social Media Networking Tips to Help Your Marketing

Social Networking Tips from 24-7 Press Release NewswireBack on January 16th, we had offered you some tips and etiquette that everyone should be aware of and practising. As a follow up, we decided to further the piece with a few more points that everyone should be aware of.

One of the biggest faults that many people have (you can clearly see this at brick and mortar social networking events) is that some individuals “loves themselves” and like to talk about themselves, what they can do, what they have and so on. You have probably met this person at a cocktail party no doubt.  More time needs to be spent asking the basic W’s to find out how potentially a relationship could jointly work out.  Making yourself interesting and caring about what another person has to say while being completely 100% genuine in the process.  People will remember you when you make that follow up connection.

If you are asked a question without knowing the answer and you say you are going to follow up at a certain time point, make sure your time point is accurate.  If you do not have the information that you advised you would present, notify the person that you are aware you were going to follow up today, but still do not have the information and that you are still working on obtaining it.

When you engage in a discussion, don’t always take.  In this day and age, people have had enough of been taken advantage of.  A good rule that I like to say is “Offer something BEFORE you take something”.  For us, if we are talking with press release writers, we like to offer a press release distribution coupon and include the website (http://www.24-7pressrelease.com).  Whether it is a coupon, a service or some advice, offer before you take.

This next point goes back a little to our first article.  Whether it is LinkedIn, Facebook, Google Plus, keep your contacts relevant and meaningful.  Connecting with every Tom, Dick and Harry serves no useful purpose.  Keep your connections updated and personal when and where you can.

With these basic concepts implanted, you will be sure to build a meaningful social network of amazing contacts.

Social Media Tips and Etiquette You Need to Know and Practice

24-7 Press Release Social Media Etiquette - SMSocial media to some individuals is something that is fairly new, but to some it has been around for years and they are familiar with decent social media etiquette.

Social media involves interaction between a given group of individuals in which they create, share or exchange thoughts in a virtual community and or network. The contributions, conversations and discussions would typically be of an educated value and at a fairly high level.

Introducing social media now… A bunch of noise that requires filters like HootSuite to help navigate and sort the garbage from the intelligent conversations or pieces of information that can be of value.

One of the biggest forms of social media today is Facebook. Aside from a press release or Google AdWords, Facebook is probably one of the most recognized marketing tools currently available. Posting credible, engaging information, sharing a few high-quality and relevant stories will gradually turn it into a tool to convert customers. Your customers will come because of your knowledge and information. Sorry, it is not all about you, your business and your next launch or event. Posting the occasional “deal”, “coupon” or “company update” is alright, however you must remember to engage your customer.

Followers, followers, followers… Sure, you can “buy” followers and have bragging rights that your Google Plus account has 1,500 followers, or you have 30,000 Twitter followers, etc., but what is your end game? For most people, unless you are significantly known in your industry, you will not organically have that many people genuinely interested in your business, product or service.  We are talking quality over quantity.

Social media is not SEO. Like a press release, Google AdWords or a newsletter, it is another tool for your marketing to be used wisely and not abused. Engage. Follow people who are engaging. Post meaningful posts. Like what you truly like. Re-post if you truly find value in what you are re-posting but don’t always and only re-post. Add your viewpoint. Get involved in discussions.

Following these simple thoughts will bring naturally interested, truly organic followers and customers.
